The Ford F-150 pickup was reported stolen out of Bristol, Pennsylvania late last month and a suspect was arrested on Thursday, Evesham Township police said.

The suspect taken into custody was identified by Evesham police as Michael Martin. Additional identifying information was not immediately released by police. A wanted poster with image (see above) had been circulated to locate the suspect -- which reportedly helped identify the fugitive, police said Thursday.

A warrant was issued for Martin’s arrest on Sept. 27 on the charges of aggravated assault on a police officer and eluding, among other charges.

On Sept. 26 at 3:35am, an Evesham police officer was conducting a property check of a commercial business when he allegedly observed a man slumped over the steering wheel of a Ford F-150.

During the investigation, the man reportedly regained consciousness and the officer suspected that the unknown driver had operated the vehicle under the influence of illegal drugs, police said on Facebook.

The suspect allegedly became combative, refusing to exit the vehicle and drove off, police said.

While fleeing the scene, the vehicle struck the Evesham police officer, according to police. The officer suffered minor injuries and was treated by Evesham Fire-Rescue personnel.

The suspect led officer(s) on a pursuit, operating his vehicle in a reckless manner, police said, while putting innocent motorists in danger. The pursuit ended when the vehicle became disabled near Kettering Court in Evesham Township and the suspect fled on foot, police said. Subsequently it was learned the Ford F-150 was reported stolen out of Bristol, Pennsylvania.

A large perimeter was established by Evesham Officers and surrounding jurisdictions. The New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit also responded and assisted with the search, however the suspect was not located. Officers remained in the area throughout the day.
